European Research Group on Experimental Contact Dermatitis
22nd Meeting
Amsterdam, 24 - 26 September 2009

It is our pleasure to announce the 22nd Meeting of the ERGECD to be held from 24-26 September, 2009 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Major subjects of the ERGECD meeting include immunological issues and experimental approaches for studying the roles of T cell subsets, dendritic cells, skin residential cells and all aspects of mechanisms of sensitization and tolerance, and allergen-focused hazard identification and risk assessment.
Attendants include cell biologists, immunologists, chemists, toxicologists, pharmacologists and clinicians from academia, government and industry. Contributions are made by the most distinguished experts in the field whilst at the same time encouraging a strong participation from young colleagues. The informal manner of the meeting stimulates ‘’hot of the bench’’ presentation of newest results and extensive interaction between scientists.
The European Research Group on Experimental Contact Dermatitis (ERGECD) was started in 1980 in Strasbourg/ Basel as an informal gathering of experts in immunology and biology of contact dermatitis. A successful series of meetings followed, aiming at scientific exchange between basic and applied research scientists and clinicians. Our ERGECD meetings sparked off a similar initiative in America- the American ECDRG with their last meeting being held jointly with the American Contact Dermatitis Society in Montreal, 2008.
The meeting has a low budget policy however with reduced sponsoring due to the present harsh financial landscape, a modest registration fee will have to be levied, i.e. € 100 per participant, covering scientific and social parts of the program.
